The Highland Park Experiment.
I did not ask for the job of administrative head of Highland Park Community Association. Once it was clear that the fake HOA people did not know what they were doing other than making the situation worse; I was conscripted in 2018 by many concerned citizens in Highland Park and Lakeview West to help save the lake. This made me the lightening rod and scapegoat so I was attacked on the daily for five years by the fake hoa people.
The fake HOA people, for some unknown reason to us at the time worked on: social media, poster campaigns, newsletters, and public meetings to “save” the lake all the while mechanically destroying the dam infrastructure by dropping cement bags onto corrugated outflow pipes – cracking and crushing them, injecting tons of slurry blast into the earthen berm (causing worse piping) and dumping tons of mismatched concrete all around a delaminated, collapsing structure. Five years later and now we know the removal of the dam is in the best interest of local developers in order to use the Milkhouse Creek for new housing development drainage to the tune of over 200 units. A few special individuals even opened the standpipe releasing the 16,000 cubic foot of water from the Milkhouse Creek into the Dog River Watershed system without the necessary Federal permits or ownership to take such actions. These fake hoa people did this multiple times in one year alone thus destroying the wetlands and wildlife in the area.
The land nor I have recovered. The dam is in rubble. I recently had a stress related heart attack while working on the issue. Despite persistent cries for help, there has never been accountability for the deliberate deconstruction of the Optimist Lake Dam on Milkhouse Creek in West Mobile Alabama or the loss of wildlife and waterfowl, or the loss of personal property values, the loss of good neighbors who have moved away. I think it is safe to say the developers could see this area was ripe for the taking of the land at this time because the people were too preoccupied or too fearful to get involved to effectively save the lake.
