Dams require continuity of maintenance. Dams are not eco-friendly in the present climate and why many are being let to fall across the country. They provide neither public safety, drinkable water, safe swimming, or financial recompense. This reminds me of the stages of collapse that the neighborhoods of Optimist Lake dam went through before its final destruction. This Illinois dam is at the stage where it is recognized by Army Corps of Engineer that it does need repair. We’ll see if they repair it or let it fail completely.
